Vol. 001 — The October Afterglow
Apparently, nobody informed my brain that October is over.
I'm still somewhere between spooky season, autumnal daydreams and pretending I live in a romantic little town where everyone wears oversized coats and has mysterious family histories.
Anyway, here's what's currently occupying my time, money, headphones and an unreasonable amount of mental real estate.
ON REPEAT
Unethical — Faouzia
This song. THIS SONG.
I've had Unethical by Faouzia on repeat lately, and I'm not taking questions at this time.
There's something about it that makes doing absolutely nothing feel like a cinematic event. Suddenly, I'm the main character, there's a dramatic backstory, and someone somewhere owes me an apology.
No further comments.
ON MY SCREEN
Practical Magic & Practical Magic 2
I've rewatched Practical Magic for approximately the 66th time. At this point, I should probably be credited in the production notes.
And I finally watched Practical Magic 2.
OBSESSED.
Apparently, my brain has decided that witches, a little magic, autumnal atmosphere and beautifully chaotic women are essential to my wellbeing. Who am I to argue?
I'm simply not ready to leave this particular universe.
ON MY NIGHTSTAND
Dracula — Bram Stoker
I finally finished reading Dracula by Bram Stoker, and MY HEART.
What a classic. What writing. What an experience.
There's something so special about reading a book that has stood the test of time and understanding exactly why it has. The atmosphere, the storytelling, the sheer brilliance of it all.
I fear I may be insufferable about gothic literature for the foreseeable future.
ON MY ORDER
Iced teas, iced Spanish lattes & juicy burgers
My current beverage situation is very much iced tea and iced Spanish lattes.
Hot drinks? Lovely, I'm sure. But right now, if it isn't cold, refreshing and served in a cup I can carry around while romanticizing my errands, I'm not particularly interested.
And then there's the burger situation.
A juicy burger can fix approximately 73% of my problems. The remaining 27% require a little more effort and possibly another burger.
IN MY WARDROBE
Maxi skirts & sheer tops
I'm very much in my maxi skirt and sheer top era.
A little feminine, a little effortless, a little mysterious woman who may or may not have somewhere important to be.
Do I have somewhere important to be? That's between me and my calendar.
IN MY MAKEUP BAG
Victoria's Secret Lip Gloss — Honey & Pink Mimosa
My current little lip gloss companions are the Victoria's Secret gloss tubes in Honey and Pink Mimosa.
I have a weakness for a good lip gloss. This is not new information, nor is it something I'm particularly interested in overcoming.
A little shine never hurt anybody.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the current state of affairs.
Still mentally in October, romantically attached to fictional worlds, reading gothic classics, drinking iced coffee and buying another lip gloss despite already owning several.
Some things change. Some things simply become recurring themes.
Until the next fixation.
